Welcome to The Acolyte!

We are a couple of sad 40-something blokes who grew up to the sounds of the iconic progressive rock music of the early/mid-70s. Although we tended to neglect our album collections as we got married, had kids, worked hard and paid the mortgage, we rediscovered the wonderful world of prog some years ago. We’ve put this site together for the benefit of other like-minded souls. Enjoy!

Rediscovering Refugee
refugee__refugee.jpgIn this feature article, written exclusively for the Acolyte, Jim Baggott looks back on the band that out-Niced The Nice in 1974. This was Refugee - Lee Jackson, Brian "Blinky" Davison and Swiss keyboard wizard Patrick Moraz. Refugee only produced one album, but its heady mix of classical themes, jazz, rock and blues ensured that it would ascend to the very pinnacle of prog. Recently re-released on CD, this is an album that deserves to be rediscovered.
